In J. D Salinger's novel, The Catcher inside the Rye, the protagonist, Holden, goes through a large number of hardships in the journey to self-knowledge. Initially, Holden needs to deal with becoming kicked out of school but not having any place to get. He is as well struggling with the unfortunate disaster of the fatality of his beloved more youthful brother Allie. At the same time, Holden is trying to deal with growing up and taking the adult world. Through the entire novel Salinger addresses the conflicts experienced by a child struggling with the trials and tribulations of growing up while also confronting personal loss and loneliness as you go along.

In the beginning with the novel you learns that Holden has been kicked out of his school Pency-Prep. Holden discusses how this individual has been started out of schools in the past and says, " They gave me repeated warnings to start out applying myselfВ… but I didn't do it. So I received the ax" (4). This shows that Holden doesn't genuinely care about school, it is not everything important to him. In fact , this individual decides to leave college early, a couple of days prior to Christmas break begins saying, " I just didn't want to hang about anymore. It made me too sad and lonesome" (51). Holden plainly doesn't think that he belongs at Percy and this individual doesn't appear too disappointed about the need to leave both. However , if he does leave Holden isn't very ready to go home yet. Declaring I " decided I'd take a space in a resort in Fresh YorkВ…and simply take it convenient till Wednesday" (51). The simple fact that Holden isn't heading home is known as a sign that he does not really feel like he goes there no more than he seems he goes at Percy. Holden will not really have anywhere to go, not even a good friend's house. Most teenage males who were working away from school because they flunked out and don't want to manage their parents just yet might very likely tend to retreat into a good pal's house for a few days.
